Cotswold District Council Car Parking Strategy
Cotswold District Council has now issued its draft Parking Strategy 2010 to 2015. This is a really important document for the Town as it will set the framework for all charges / changes to car parking during this period. The Chamber of Commerce will be responding on behalf of our members and would be grateful for your comments so that we can ensure your views are reflected in our response. The Chamber of Commerce has been working hard over the last 18 months to try and get Cotswold District Council to take a strategic view to parking and it is essential that we engage with this consultation. Please forward your comments to us by Friday 23rd April 2010. (Email to secretary@ccoc.org.uk).
We would also encourage you to forward your comments direct to Cotswold District Council – maria.wheatley@cotswold.gov.uk
The documents can be viewed on the Cotswold District Council website, or you can download them here and here.
The documents are very lengthy and relate to the whole district, so we have prepared a summary of the main pointsand Response Form which you can download here. You can either enter your comments onto this document and email it back to us, or just email direct.
Following the consultation, a Parking Strategy document will be finalised and submitted to the Cabinet at its meeting scheduled to be held in July 2010 for consideration and approval.
The key areas that this Strategy will focus on will be:
- Provision of residents’ parking
- Improvements to the environment, quality and safety of existing facilities
- Long-term requirements for parking provision
- Increasing customer options for making payments for car park charges
- Demonstrating the Councils commitment to carbon reduction and promoting green methods of transport
- Suitability of current arrangements for setting of tariffs and fees and charges, for example such as those commented on in the ‘Stow on the Wold Town Council Parking Report and analysis, dated 23 February 2010
- Appropriateness of parking enforcement arrangements
